Extraordinary solid-silver neo-gothic chalice with medals, made in France in the 19th century and with beautiful matching paten. Both pieces remain in amazing condition and display an uncommon beauty which combines gilded and normal silver creating a fine contrast. The foot is decorated with four almond-shaped non-gilded silver medals, containing wonderful hand-engraved images depicting the Crucifixion and the members of the Sacred Virgin: the Virgin, Saint Joseph and Jesus Christ. Between them we can see delicate embossed wheat stalks and bunches of grapes, symbols of the Eucharistic bread and wine. The stem bears a main node with delicate decorative engravings; the cup shows off four medals similar to those at the foot, in this case with images of the Four Evangelists. Both the cup and the foot bear hallmarks which guarantee the quality and origin of the piece. Last but not least, the paten is a gorgeous piece with a hand-engraved central image depicting Jesus Christ with his Mother, Mary. This extraordinary neo-gothic solid-silver chalice with medals and matching paten is perfect to become part of the belongings of a priest who appreciates antique quality pieces.
