Spectacular antique silver chalice made in France between 1818 and 1838 and accompanied by a beautiful gilded-silver paten made in the late 19th century. The chalice stands out for its amazing decoration, which covers the whole piece: the ample foot, the node and the subcup. At the foot we can see three classic scenes from the Stations of the Cross and the Passion of Christ: the prayer at the Garden of Olives with the angel, Jesus carrying the cross on His way to the Calvary and the Crucifixion. Between the medals with the images we can see embossed wheat stalks and bunches of grapes, symbols of the Eucharist. The main node also shows these symbols together with a group of reeds, which symbolize the people of God. At the top of the chalice, the stylized lean gilded-silver cup sits on a great openwork subcup. This part is decorated with three beautiful medals with portraits of the members of the Sacred Family: Jesus, Mary and Joseph. At the cups edge and the foot we find some hallmarks, clearly marked in the metal surface. The gilded-silver paten is decorated with a simple hand-engraved motif and bears its corresponding hallmarks. This spectacular antique silver chalice with paten will be the perfect gift for a priest with a passion for antique religious silverwork, being also worthy to belong to the best collection.
