Beautiful antique solid-silver chalice, made in France in the 19th century and with paten. The set is finely preserved and both pieces bear hallmarks: the one for antique French silverware and the silversmiths mark (an anchor with the initials M and D). The chalice bears these marks at the foot and the cup. The foot is circular in shape and boasts a wonderful hand-engraved decoration, composed of wheat stalks, bunches of rapes, reeds, medals, crosses, flowers and abstract classic patterns. The stem has several nodes, decorated with scallops and circles. The chalice is crowned by a magnificent cup, with no decoration at all and whose simplicity makes an awesome contrast with the elaborate ornamentation which covers the rest of the piece. The chalice comes with a simple and antique gilded-silver paten, with the acronym of Christ (IHS) engraved by hand. This beautiful antique solid-silver chalice is an exclusive piece, worthy of inclusion in the treasure of an important church or the best private collection.
