Antique gilt silver ciborium made in Paris, France between 1819 and 1838. The ciborium shows off a fantastic and almost flawless look, preserving the gilt finish in excellent condition. It bears the hallmarks of the Parisian silver in all its parts and is adorned with simple schematic hand-engraved motifs. The foot is decorated with the classic Eucharist-related images: bunches of grapes, wheat stalks and reeds. These images are also engraved at the ciboriums lid, creating a harmonious and balanced piece. The stem has a tapered main node and a secondary one, smaller and circular in shape, under the first. They are both decorated with bands composed of leaves and circles, simple and discreet. The lid is crowned by the classic Latin cross that acts as a handle. The Parisian hallmarks and the silversmiths mark can also be seen at the crowning cross, the foot and at the cups edge; they are clearly visible and finely preserved. This antique gilt silver ciborium is a gorgeous religious silversmiths piece with an elegant design and a magnificent presence. Dimensions: Foots Width: 4.72 in / 12 cm. Height: 9.25 in / 23.5 cm.
