Antique two-colored solid-silver ciborium, made in France circa 1900 and in good condition. The ciborium shows off a fine gilt finish which does not cover the whole surface, but leaves some parts in lean silver in order to create an original and stylish decoration. The gilt finish is in amazing condition and looks bright and warm. This piece bears hallmarks in all its parts: the foot, the cups edge and the lid. The hallmarks testify for the items original and quality. The ciboriums foot is lobed in shape and has a punctured background with embossed schematic and symmetrical motifs which depicts plants with stalks (probably wheat). The stem is connected to the foot by the classic array of long leaves which creates a conical and fluid design. The stem has two circular nodes, main and secondary, both adorned with symmetrical motifs in lean and gilt silver. The sub-cup shows off the same two-colored motifs as the foot, in this case bigger in size. The lids decoration repeats the same images and the punctured background; this piece is crowned by an openwork Latin cross which acts as a handle too. This beautiful two-colored solid-silver ciborium will stand out during the celebration of the Eucharist and as an ornamental piece. Dimensions: Foots Width: 4.92 in / 12.2 cm. Height: 9.84 in / 25 cm. Cups Width: 3.66 in / 9.3 cm.
