Fine silver and metal ciborium made in Paris, France between 1818 and 1828. The ciborium is in great condition and bears hallmarks in all the silver parts: the cup, the lid and the cross which crowns the piece. The stem and the foot are made of silver-plated metal, and its excellent finish makes it possible to provide the whole item with a uniform and rich look. The foot is circular in shape and is adorned with simple hand-engraved vegetal-inspired motifs, symmetrical and schematic. We can see four long leaves which start at the node and divide the foot in four sections, each one decorated with an engraved three-flower plant. The stem is composed of two nodes: a small secondary node and a bigger main node, shaped like a vase and embellished with a delicate border of wheat stalks and leaves. The cup bears no decoration at all and is covered by the silver lid: this piece shows an engraved decoration of leaves (similar to those at the foot), flower rosettes and a simple cross with a capital at the end of each arm. This fine silver and metal ciborium is a charming, stylish and beautiful piece, nearly 180 years old. Dimensions: Foots Width: 4.9 in / 12.5 cm. Cup`s Width: 3.5 in / 9 cm. Height: 9.4 in / 24 cm.
