Very antique 18th-century silver chalice, made in Frace between 1783 and 1789 and with hallmarks. The chalice shows a gorgeous design, tall and elegant, with ample circular foot and hand-engraved vegetal motifs all over its surface, except the cup. At the foot, a small Latin cross marks the front side of the piece. The stem is full of nodes of different sizes, shapes and decorations. The main node is in the center and is adorned with engraved symmetrical motifs. The cup is quite stylized and is in fine condition: if we unscrew it from the stem, we will see the silversmiths mark and the hallmark which identifies antique French silver pieces. The foot bears the same hallmarks at the edge. The eagle-shaped mark was introduced in 1873 and used until 1789, which lets us date this piece in this period. The paten which comes with the chalice was produced later, but is still quite an ancient piece. It bears hallmarks of the Vatican which indicate it was made near 1900. This very antique 18th-century silver chalice with paten, in good condition, will really shine on an altar or as part of a good collection of religious silverworks.
