Very antique Spanish silver ciborium made between the 17th and 18th centuries, circa 1700. This is a really fine article, decorated with incised motifs all over its surface. The ornamentation includes some elegant silver cabochons at the foot, the cup and the node, which provide the piece with relevance and interest. It has no hallmarks, but its quality and ancient age are guaranteed in writing. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Spanish silver articles were taxable. In order to avoid paying taxes, many pieces were never marked. So is the case of this amazing ciborium, whose balanced and solid design matches its fine decoration. The motifs are regularly disposed all over the silver surface: groups of symmetrical scrolls and curves composed of tiny incised dots. The subtle effect of this decoration makes a fine contrast with the powerful look of the silver cabochons. The cup is covered by a silver lid, crowned by a simple cross. This very antique Spanish silver ciborium is a real museum piece, a great work of religious art worthy to belong to the best collection. Dimensions: Foots Width: 5,59 in / 14.2 cm.
