Antique silver monstrance or silver reliquary by Favier, made in France circa 1880 and in good condition. For its small size (15.94 inches high) this is quite a rare and special piece which can also be used as a reliquary. It is also a delicately designed and executed item which illustrates the quality of the silversmiths work, André Favier. The monstrance shows some ancient reparations but these are very small details, scarcely visible and which do not interfere at all in its beauty and quality. The design, classic and elaborate, includes a square foot over four legs. It is decorated with a gilt silver applique depicting the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) and with embossed motifs of the Eye of Providence and bunches of grapes in the vine, symbol of the Eucharistic wine. The stem has a big node with cherubs heads and wheat stalks with the sunburst on top. This part preserves the original lunette, framed by a gilt silver ring, and is crowned by a silver cross. The delicacy of this antique silver monstrance or silver reliquary by Favier turn it into a very special piece, worthy to belong to a priest with a taste for antiques.
