Gorgeous antique gilt-silver chalice with enamels made in France circa 1880, with ancient silver chalice and in very good condition. This beautiful piece shows a medieval-inspired design, with a lobed base decorated with enameled semicircles. The enamels have a blue background and a symmetrical motif of bunches of grapes in the vine, related to the Eucharistic wine. The stems foot has six embossed sections with stylized symmetrical wheat stalks; the front section is adorned with a red-enameled silver Greek cross. The stem is hexagonal and is embellished with subtle hand-engraved motifs. The subcup is decorated with the same motifs as the stems foot. Both the chalices cup and foot bear the French silver hallmark and the silversmiths mark.The paten which comes with the chalice is also an antique piece. It is made of whita and gilt silver, with an engraved Greek cross and hallmarks near the edge. For its exceptional condition, attractive design and decoration, this gorgeous antique gilt-silver chalice with enamels is an exclusive and really interesting piece.
