Antique gilt-silver chalice with enamels made in France circa 1870, finely preserved and showing a stylish neo-gothic style. This fine religious silversmiths piece is covered of colorful enamels from foot to top, showing a balanced and beautiful decoration. The foot is lobed in shape and has six enameled medallions, four with the symbols of the Four Evangelists, one decorative and the remaining one containing a cross. Between the foots sections we can see enameled geometrical bands which reach the stem; this is adorned with a lobed node which shows a flowery decoration in red, blue, turquoise and white. The stem is hexagonal and is embellished with small flower-shaped punctured motifs. The subcup has some several enameled medals with abstract geometrical motifs of clear medieval inspiration. All the enamels of the chalice are well preserved, their great colors making a nice contrast with the gilt silver. The cup and the foot have perfectly-marked hallmarks which testify for the origin, the ancient age and the quality of the item. The paten which comes with it is also made of silver and bears its own hallmarks. The gilt finish is worn by the trace of time and the use, but it is still an antique and quality piece. This beautiful antique gilt-silver chalice with hallmarks combines a fantastic neo-gothic design with an excellent condition and a quality beyond doubt. Dimensions: Foots Width: 5.3 in / 13.5 cm.
