Antique Neo-Gothic-Style Gilt Silver Ciborium. France, Circa 1890

Antique neo-gothic-style gilt silver ciborium made in France circa 1890, impressively beautiful and in very good condition. The ciborium is embellished with delicate gilt silver filigrees, intricate and very attractive, which provide its design with sumptuousness and depth. It bears the marks of the French goldsmith Louis Gille, who lived and worked in the late 19th century. As well as the filigrees, the ciborium is also adorned with appliqued almond-shaped silver medallions and subtle hand-engraved motifs which make up a wonderful and elegant decoration. The foot is divided in six sections, shaped as pointed arches; three of them are adorned with filigrees and the other three, with medallions. The node of the stem is engraved with fine geometrical motifs, while the subcup and the lid show an amazing goldsmith’s work shaped as gilt-silver filigrees applied all over their surface. The lid is crowed by the classic cross-shaped handle, essential to lift it.

This antique neo-gothic-style gilr silver ciborium is an awesome piece which will shine during the celebration of mass, or as part of the best collection of religious silverwork.
