Antique Spanish Silver Chalice. Plasencia, Spain, Circa 1800

Antique Spanish silver chalice made in Plasencia, Extremadura (Spain) circa 1800, with an elegant design and finely preserved. In some parts the chalice shows some scratches and tiny dents, logical in a piece which is more than 200 years old, which do not interfere in the great look of this liturgical silver piece. The foot is circular in shape and shows a stepped design, with an engraved cord-like motif at the bottom and a spiral band at the top. Both decorations are well preserved and provide the piece with a very special charm. At the stem, one of the secondary nodes shows the same cord-like band as the foot. The main node is adorned with a band of delicate schematic flowers on a stripped background. The cup is quite stylized; its edge is slightly curved outwards. At the foot we can see the hallmarks which situate the origin of this chalice in the city of Plasencia (Spain) and testify for its quality and ancient age.

This antique Spanish silver chalice from Plasencia is a delicate and gorgeous piece, which will shine on an altar during the celebration of mass.
